AbstractA mathematical model for the non-coherent multipath SIK DS/CPMA system has been derived in the optical domain. The feasibility of the application of sliding correlator receiver and their BER performances in this environment are investigated with two different configurations of the above receiver namely, optically switching correlator with balanced photodiode arrangement and electronically switching correlator with a single photodiode arrangement. The latter is demonstrated as a prototype with suitable design configuration. Its BER performance is measured and compared with the expected performance under various operating conditions, such as direct line of sight link, reflected reception from a passive reflector and with an interferer with va1ying interference power.
