AbstractKnowledge is considered as a strategic asset, competitive advantage for a contracting firm to survive in the dynamic construction industry. This study focused on analyzing the knowledge factors and how these factors associate to the knowledge management performance at project level. Based on the literature, 21 knowledge variables were chosen as the predictors for 4 knowledge management phases which is also the measure of knowledge management performance – knowledge creation; knowledge sharing; knowledge adoption and knowledge utilization. To find out the relationship between the knowledge factors and knowledge management phases, correlation analysis is conducted. 19 out of the 21 knowledge factors are eligible for correlation analysis after conducting reliability test. Data from 98 building construction projects in Yangon were collected. Spearman’s rank order correlation is conducted with the knowledge factors against their respective measured knowledge management performance .Cross-pairing between the knowledge factors and knowledge management performance groups is also conducted to test their association based on the cyclic nature of knowledge phases. 9 of the factors exhibited positive association with their respective knowledge phase performances in paired correlation testing. The results of cross-paired testing showed that Leadership and Culture factors also have the positive association with not only in sharing knowledge but also in creation and adoption aspects of knowledge management in the building construction projects.
