Abstract | It is well understood in the construction industry that trust plays a key role in project success. Amongst all the trust relationships that exist in a construction site the most essential is the trust between a main contractor and subcontractor. This study with a goal of not just understanding the role of trust, hey all the various attributes of trust sought to find the most important trust attributes that help build the trust between main contractor and subcontractor. This study presents the most important 5 and the least important 5 trust attributes. Finally it will provided recommendations To build distrust through insights from literature review and a quantitative study. This study was conducted in Hyderabad India among main contractors and subcontractors Using a structured questionnaire survey. Through literature review where multiple trust models were studied and various attributes were gathered from various literature, 25 trust attributes were found Which was then group into the 6 dimensions of accountability, communication, reciprocity, reputation, integrity, and competency. Through verification test it was found that all 25 trust attributes are essential and were rightly chosen. Outlining the results broadly, to build a proper relationship it has been understood that showing clear process of workflow, addressing the poor performance, subcontractor not seeking his own personal benefits, completing tasks on time, and communicating frequently concisely clearly and openly are essential. The main takeaway of this thesis is to build good relationship between hey man contractor and subcontractor communication must be open, clear, concise, frequent and help them also clear any disputes if they arise. This will ensure they can work together in future and the experience the game together is beneficial for both in their finances, workflows, and reputation in industry. |
