Abstract | The Computer-Controlled Triaxial Apparatus was introduced. A desktop computer was linked to a triaxial cell that had adjustable speed motor to perform strain-controlled test and had pressure cylinder to perform stress-controlled test. The system used stepper motors and air pressure regulators to control vertical stress, horizontal stress, and pore pressure independently. Each element used was described and also its assembling. The operation of the system was elucidated. System evaluation was made by comparing the results of automated strain-controlled K0 consolidation with incremental stress K0 consolidation. Variation of normalized prope1ties of soft Bangkok clay with vertical consolidation stress was studied by performing some CK0 UC tests at different vertical consolidation stress. |
