Abstract | This thesis confronts primary education at both the levels of educational planning, i.e ., conceptualization of educational planning and impartation of educational planning. In recent years the Government of India has given due importance to the aspect of impartation by trying to provide adequate facilities for schools. Although government funds for Primary education is considerable, the issues raised in this thesis at the ideology level is very necessary. This research analyzes the promotion of primary education by the Temple Trust of Shri Kshetra Dharmastala, in the taluk of Belthangadi, in South India. As a religious institution it has tremendous impact on the people of Belthangadi. The main objective of the research has been to analyze the impact Dharmastala has on the people of Belthangadi and the development of the taluk through its different approach to primary education. To understand this the Dharmastala school has been compared with an unaided government and an aided government school in t he taluk. The analysis is based on surveys done on the target group who are the parents of the children studying in the three schools . The analysis has been done at both the physical level as well as ideological level . The findings of the analyses show that the Kshetra Dharmastala has tried to break the vicious circle of poverty of education and has brought in the local and vernacular needs in its approach to planning and imparting educational programmes. |
