AbstractThe phenomena of the urban informal sector has emerged from the huge number of mral migrants who usually live in low-income settlements. It has become a solution for job scarcity. Income generating activity as a pa1t of the informal sector is defined as informal activity that refers to the fact that some of those enterprises operate without license and deviate from regulation. This activity is determined by a combination of living and working and is conducted by woman who combine both economic and household activities. In relation to the implementation of Kampung Improvement Program, the structural environment such as water supply, road, drainage, garbage, electricity and sanitation system have been changed. This has lead to the improve the emergence and development of income generating activity. The aim of this research is to study the perceived effectiveness of implementation of Kampung Improvement Program in terms of development of income generating activity. The question posed is the possible cont1ibution of KIP in supporting development of trade, service and manufacture activity in the area. The research of this study was conducted by using a cross-sectional study between KIP and non-KIP by measuring the level of satisfaction of inhabitants between the two groups. The one-way analysis technique was conducted to investigate the inte1rnlation among variables, chi square method was conducted to compare differences within the groups and t-test compare differences between the two groups. The findings of this study determine the satisfaction level of KIP toward development of IGA, pattern ,and location characteristics of each income generating activity. They will be useful for making recommendations for the future implementation of the program by involving income generating activity point of view as a pa1t of the program in order to improve the inhabitants living conditions.
