AbstractThe attitude of farmers was studied with a primary focus on three major natural resources problems and management, namely, land, forest and water resource, with greater emphasis on agriculture and related activities. Attention was directed to investigate their attitudes and explore socio-economic parameters which influence the differences in each particular defined groups of farmers. Survey of farmers' attitudes was done through the sample size of 114 in 8 villages of two tambon (subdistrict) by stratified random sampling. Their attitudes were analyzed by using point scale index while t-test and chi-square test were used as an investigative tools for proving set hypotheses. The study also widens concept of determinants in order to determine exploratory variables that differentiate farmers' perception and practices by fundamentally employing discriminant analysis. Findings from this study were compared with previous studies conducted in both developed and developing countries. The research, thus, demonstrated that farmers' attitudes towards natural resource degradation and its consequences are not identical but part of social and economic conditions. The policy implication of survey of farmers' attitudes would guide policy makers, natural resource management planners and the implementators to meet ultimate goals and solve problems of natural resource.
