AbstractThe problem of housing settlements appears everywhere, representing proportionally with the population growth, and socio-economic development. Housing settlements development, especially for the low-income people acquires special attention from the Government of Indonesia. Approximately 600,000 low-cost houses will be built in Indonesia within the next five years in order to provide housing for the low-income people. The rapid growth of housing construction activity will affect the provision of building materials, and the prices and supply of raw and processed materials. Building materials and construction components are becoming more and more expensive, pushed housing construction cost above the affordability level of low-income people. It makes exceedingly difficulties for the low-income people to buy or to construct permanent and substantial housing. The construction and building materials technologies should be improved and innovated to reduce construction cost while preserving the quality. The Self-Contained Housing Delivery System can be used as an alternative to solve the construction cost problem. This system that allowed for the use of unskilled labour in production and construction of low-cost houses is suitable to be applied in the building materials industry in Indonesia. Feasibility study of construction components production using Self-Contained Housing Delivery System was conducted to provide a base for technical, economic, and commercial decision taking with regards for investments, and forecast investment and production costs. Necessaries' data and information that were used in the feasibility study are collected through field survey and secondary data. The study is carried out in Jakarta and Ujung Pandang.
