AbstractIn 1979, People's Republic of China started its housing commercialization action, trying to relieve the heavy, long-existing housing burden which had been undertaken by the government since the founding of PRC in 1949 and considered reasonable by people. Housing construction in China has developed quite quickly since then. However, along with the rapid socio-economic development and the shift of housing ownership from public to private, people are no longer satisfied by possessing housing which provides only basic living conditions. They ask more. This thesis tried to find out levels of satisfaction from residents of Qing Tan New Village, Changzhou city, China with their present housing and their wishes for the future housing. Ce1tain relevant data were all here, including a practical questionnaire survey to Qing Tan New Village residents. Problems were analyzed by means of both literature and statistical methods. Finally, some recommendations and conclusions were generated.
