| Abstract | Service industry has played a major role in the modem economy system. We also know that technology is a decisive force for competitive development in the market. So, service industry study from a technology perspective is meaningful and worthy in modem world. There are many types of service industries. In this research, we choose Engineering Consulting Service Companies as the major focus of study for their unique characteristics which are different from that of manufacturing industry. This research report first discusses the relationship between technology components and technology capabilities. Based on this relationship model and the operational traits of Engineering Consulting Companies a framework for assessing the technology capability was.developed. This framework was applied to a real world case -- Sinotech Consulting Company in Taiwan. The framework facilitated us to identify the strengths and weakness in terms of technology capability of this company. Finally, based on this research findings, some measures and suggestions are made to reme<,ly the weaknesses related to technology capability in the company. |
