Abstract | The Synchronization problem is common and occurs in every multimedia application. As compared with operating system, the synchronization problem in multimedia is smaller and easier to manage. The synchronization schemes used in the operating system are not suitable for multimedia systems, and cause many disadvantages when applying them to multimedia applications. In this research paper, new synchronization scheme, Self Synchronization, is introduced. The new scheme is smaller and more efficient as it is designed to reduce the overheads had traditional schemes of synchronization been used. Adopting the concepts of Object-Oriented programming, the new scheme is designed to be generic, reusable and extendable. |
