AbstractStudy area consists of unconsolidated sediments overlying the bedrock. The thickness of sediments is about 50 m in the central part and about 30 m in the eastern and western part of the study area. Two aquifer - upper aquifer and lower aquifer are noted. Upper aquifer is limited for water resource whereas lower aquifer is very important for ground water resource. Total thickness of aquifer varies from 10 m to 22 m. Depth of aquifer ranges from 5 - 10 rn in the central part and 20 - 30 rn in the eastern and the western part of the study area. The study area can be divided into a low production zone and a high production zone with a sp~cific capacity of approximately 1 m3 /hr /m and about 3 m3 /hr /m respectively. Ground water is of a good quality for irrigation and drinking purposes except that near the coastal area.
