Abstract | Lighting consumption is one of the main use of the electrical consumptions in the office building except air-conditioning. Energy Audit is used for data collection of the various data concerning lighting system detailed such as types and numbers of lamps and their accessories in this study. The main office building of the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT), used as the reference office building in this paper, can be categoried as the Large Office Building. In 1993 the peak demand and the average total energy consumption of this building were about 2,600 kW. and 8,429,556 kilo-Watts-hours and costed about 15.07 million Baht. (From bill records 1993) Lighting system analysis are made by devided the usage area of this building into 14 categories depending on the characteristics of area-utilization, occupancy behaviors and electrical appliances. Lighting Energy Conservation based on Task Lighting concept is applied to improve and reduce the peak demand of the building. The PTT office building can be categorized in the Large Business Sector which has the peak demand of 2,600 kW. The power and energy savings of the reference office building are extended to the whole office buildings of the Large Business Sector in Thailand. The results of this study show that upto 42% of the peak demand and upto 43% of the energy consumption can be saved from the reference base. Assuming a linear penetration rate, and that 5 years are the time needed for 100% penetration, the cumulative energy saving upto the year 2001 is 5,460 GWh. for the Large Business Sector of Thailand. |
