Abstract | In this study, laboratory scale experiments were carried out to investigate the color removal effectiveness of ozonation and the electro-chemical process. It included the programming of color ADMI values determination and the evaluation of the ozonizer used (Model OL 0.5/50A) as well. Dyeing wastewater from Asia Fiber Co., Ltd. was used as source wastewater. The application of ozone generated at various flowrates and contact time whereas electro-chemical process tested at different conditions: batch study at constant voltage, batch study at constant current and continuous study at constant current. The investigations revealed that color of wastewater was removed more than 90% in the electro-chemical process but only 50% by ozonation. The highest removal efficiency obtained from the test of constant 15 ampere electro-chemical process. In the continuous test, more than 90% color removal was still achieved. It seemed that electro-chemical process was more appropriate technology in dyeing wastewater treatment unless further treatment of sludge and. scum treatment was considered. Meanwhile ozonation had no sludge production. However, color hues of wastewater were changed obviously either effluent from ozonation process or electro-chemical process: With contribution of ADMI software, color values were presented more scientifically than conventional color measurement. |
