| Abstract | In this study, a computer-based inventory system application amongst applications portfolio has been developed. This application deals with material allocation, material updating (updating stock status) and material issuance activities. A general description about the organization, including the organization structures has been delineated. Then the existing manual system has been studied in terms of exploring sufficient background information for identifying problematic areas, data, and information flow at first place. Secondly, system requirements determination and assurance process has been surveyed. Lastly, a computer-based inventory management system application amongst applications portfolio has been designed including automatic price evaluation of items on average basis (value of incoming items plus value of items already available in stock). The system also addresses many of the activities required in the warehouse as well as in the design office i,e item/grid code allocation, allocation of materials, updating stocks as material arrives in the premises of warehouses, exploration of inactive materials, recording the data about the issued material to various projects and vruious grid stations to remodel or augment them and reports generations. Conclusions and recommendations for future work have also been presented. |
