AbstractThis study is done to make an assessment effectiveness of the road transportation to meet the need s taking the case of Gaenghangmaew sub-district, Thailand. of the peoples' Chanthaburi, It has illustrated the significance of road trans portation in the development of a rural distrist . It provides an overview of the institutions/agencies and their responsibilities with regard to road transport planning and an elaborated account of the problems in the sector. The main problem i s the poor condition of roads and the causes contributing to it and the effects are also mentioned. A qualitative analysis of the road transport network and accessibility, mod es of transport; and the need s of transportation as reflected by the various sectors are also discussed in this study. It provides the conclusion and recommendations to so lve the problems connected with the future development of road transport. The Research Study was completed as part of the requirements for the SPRING, an acronym for Spatial P l anning for Regions in Growing Economies, is an M.Sc. programme jointly offered by AIT and t he University of Dortmund, Germany. Under the SPRING Programme, a Research Study carrying 12 credits, must be conceptualized and compl eted within only one term, i.e. from 1 January to 31 March. Preferably, the topic should be re lated to the preceding District Deve l opment Work shop. The SPRING Programme thus differs from other M.Sc . programmes at AIT where the mos t s tudents write a thes is which s pans at least 8 months.
