AbstractSince the construction industry has its own distinct peculiarities, firms operating in the industry have to undertake strategy planning within the context of the industry. However, strategy planning in construction is yet an underdeveloped discipline. This study attempts to highlight the strategic planning process based on the evaluation of the past developments of the Philippine construction industry and the analysis of the structural components affecting the industry - the competitors, marketplace, suppliers, resources, interest groups, and other stakeholders -- as advanced by Porter. The study further enhanced the process by the mathematical determination of variables affecting the different types of demand through econometric modeling. This study has presented the Philippine construction industry, its dynamic development and overlaying structure, for the strategic planning process of a new entrant to the industry.
