AbstractInsurance has played an important role in the economic life of every country. Most people, families, and business organizations know that insurance is the major technique for handling risks. So Insurance is an arrangement by which one party (the insurer) promises to pay another party (the insured or policyholder) a sum of money if something happens which causes the insured to suffer a financial loss. The responsibility for paying such losses is then transferred from the policyholder to the insurer. In return for accepting the burden of paying for losses when they occur, the insurer charged the insured a price, the insurance premium. The calculation of this price or office premium is very important for insurance company or underwriter. Nowadays a wide variety of insurance contracts is available in every country. Automobile insurance is one kind of insurance and it also plays important role in insurance business. Every country passed out the Road Traffic Acts based on their requirements of country that provide some protection, and reduction to the accident victims. In Myanmar, Myanma Insurance, state owned organization, is the sole insurance organization and presently underwrites some insurance, including automobile insurance. The plan of Myanma automobile insurance acts is -" an automatic accident-compensation scheme designed to provide a reasonable amount of compensation for losses arising from motor vehicle accidents regardless of fault" . Myanma insurance has two kinds of automobile insurance which are Compulsory Third Party liability insurance; and Comprehensive motor insurance. Third Party liability insurance required limited cover for bodily injury or death, and damage to their property (including passenger) arising from the use of a vehicle on the roads within Myanmar. Comprehensive motor insurance coverage includes protection against direct and accident loss of/or damage to the insured vehicle including its equipment from fire, theft, and accident. In this study the determination of risk or pure premiums for both Compulsory Third Party liability insurance and Comprehensive motor insurance is presented specifically. Moreover comprehensive motor policies are also described in this study.
