Abstract | In order to compete in the global markets, Thailand needs to improve its telecommunications. Thailand 1s telecommunications service has been operated and controlled strictly by the government agencies. This state monopoly has res11l ted to infrastructure bottlenecks. In this paper, the a11thor attempted to review the problems created by the mo110poly ancl the present state of Thai telecommunications, reviewed the str11ct11re and policies of certain E11ropean countries, and made certain recommemlations tor policies that the policymakers can adopt. As a whole, this paper is the a11thor 's initia.l attempt to stimulate thinking as to the basic aspects of privatizat.ion so tllat it could be considered as an option in the restr11ct11ring of the country's telecommunications industry |
