Abstract | A new low cost walking type sugarcane harvester , powered by an 8 HP gasoline engine , was developed after modifying an ISEKI machine (Mode l RC J 00) used for harvesting corn. Tt was primarily designed for farmers of developing countries , who cannot afford to purchase expensive sugarcane harvesters used in development countries. In preliminary field tests, the average field capacity of the machine was found to be O . 13 ha /hr with average field efficiency of 72 %. |
