AbstractA driving criterion is developed in this repo1t for the driving of 0.8 m Spun piles in the Don Muang Tollway Project in Bangkok. The criterion is based on the analysis of five full scale pile load tests on 0.8 m diameter piles driven to a depth of 24.6. 26, 28.1, 30 and 37 m at four different locations. The load settlement data are analyzed for ultimate loads . The ultimate load from SPT tests and CPT tests are then analyzed and conĀ·elation factors are established. Fmthe1more, 6 instrumented piles and 28 conventional bored pile load tests in the Second Stage Expressway System (SES) Project in Thailand are also analyzed. A special interpretive technique is recommended for this interpretation to separate ultimate load into skin friction and end bearing. which can be a reference for future design criterion. Based on the interpreted results, modified fo1mula of the static approach is developed. Using the dedved formulae to predict the overall pile load capacity in SES project is proved to be practical and accurate. In addition. based on the interpretation results, a evaluation of performance of bored pile such as effectiveness of grouting and settlement limitation based on the safety factor 2.5 is also presented and developed in this study
