Abstract | The study concerns with an off-line automatic verification of a CNC program for a 5-axis CNC machine. A graphic simulation approach is selected and implemented. The CNC machine is modeled geometrically by a number of polygons in 3D space. The simulation is done by transforming the geometric model according to statements in the CNC program. Verification for possible collisions is carded out by detecting any intersection between the polygons that form the geometric model, subject to a set of rules and cliteria. A simulation program has been implemented using C language on SUN 3/60 workstation environment. A selected set of CNC program words is supported at the current moment. |
