AbstractIn this present s tudy , au inverse analysis t eelmique has been adopted to estimate Young's modulus of layered ground using the pile settle111ent prediction model proposed by Poulos and Da vis (1 980) based on the elas tic theory. Pile loading test data cons i sting of load vs. pile top settlement and load vs. mobilized stress in pile front Second Stage Baugkok Expressway Construction Project is used. The rnultiple non- linear regression analysis is utilized for esti1nation of Young ' s r110<1ulus a t each layer and the es tirnatio.n errors are quantified. It is found that the prediction capability of t he Poulos ' model, if Young ' s 111odulus of each layer is estimated based on several pile loading test result rather than just based on one pile loading t est would give much better prediction settlement.
