AbstractA software is developed which could be run on IBM PC compatible personal computers for a new activated sludge process model which consists of eight fundamental biological processes and ten components. This model could be used for domestic wastewater for easy use in designing and maintenance I monitoring of treatment plants for single sludge activated sludge process systems performing carbon oxidation, nitrification and denitrification. A user-friendly man-machine interface is provided in this model which easily changes all the data being used including system configuration as the user wishes for calculation with his new inflow data. Facilities are provided in the calculation module to have many test runs on the treatment plant system for the compatibility of the required conditions. Graphical output is provided for all the parameters in all the locations for easy monitoring of running treatment plants. The input module is designed with separate directories so that many alternative designs could be evaluated to finally select the most suitable design based on effluent water quality.
