Abstract | This study has been carried out to study, the past energy consumption in the economic sectors of Bhutan, namely Industry, Household, Commercial establishment, Transport and Agriculture in the period 1985 --1992. The historical analysis, trend and factors behind the evolution of the past energy consumption in Industry and Transport has a trend very similar to that of the industrial output and Gross Social Product. The future energy demand of the industrial sector up to year 2007 is projected in three different scenarios, i.e. low, base and high cases, using the Energy Demand Model for Developing countries (MEDEE-S). The impacts of the most important factors such as efficiency of fossil fuels for heating as well as energy intensity are investigated in a sensitivity analysis. |
