Abstract | The exigency of acquiring and developing technology to survive in an increasingly competitive environment cannot be overstated. For both resource-endowed developed and poor developing countries, technology is a weapon for competition and development. But only recently have developing countries start realizing this fact. Given this scenario, the more pragmatic concern is how to acquire and develop technology. Often prescribed as one of the more effective means for innovation and technology transfer, technology parks are achieving increasing attention worldwide. The concept is well documented but the literature has not adequately considered the perspective of developing countries which are the most lured to emulate the idea. Faced with an on-going replication fever for technology parks but with a meager documentation on the scheme from the viewpoint of developing countries, this study aims to develop a methodology to help a developing country establish and operationalize an "appropriate" technology park in consonance with its techno-economic development ยท objectives. The methodology established in this paper is validated in the Philippines and tested in two (2) potential growth poles of the country - Clark Field and Baguio City. |
