Abstract | From the previous study, a six node degenerated thin-walled element based on assumed strain method has been investigated to be very effective in modeling shear wall of tall building. In the present study, this generic thin-walled element is revised and incorporated into a general-purpose package for three dimensional tall building analysis. The element structure is written in FORTRAN and complied by Microsoft Fo1tran V 4.1, and implemented into XET ABS Package (AIT' s Extended Version of Three Dimensional Analysis of Tall Building System) for systematic analysis of shear walls. Several numerical problems of various shear wall configurations are solved to test the performance of thin-walled element in building systems by comparing the results with results by analytical and other numerical methods. |
