Abstract | This research presents a study of opportunities for energy conservation in a PVC- Laminating factory, United Coating Company Limited. Energy auditing has been done for the thermal and electrical energy. The functions that were looked into were: oil boilers analyses, electrical load management, thermal energy conservation opportunities and the feasibility of cogeneration system. An attempt was made in each case to identify the area where energy was not being u sed effectively and specific recommendations were made for possible saving. Potential savings from the electrical load management and the excess air control are estimated. The feasibility of using a heat exchanger f or recovering the waste heat from the flue gas of the boiler has been investigated. The annual benefit and payback period for the investment on the heat exchanger are also evaluated to explore the economic viability of the energy conservation measure. |
