AbstractTo study effects of inflexure points on the shear capacity of beam with shear reinforcement, the tests on the RC beams with different ratios of equivalent shear span-to-depth, i.e., the ratio of distance from the nearest support to inflexure point and effective depth, were performed. Ten RC beams with constant ratio of shear reinforcement 0.19 % and almost unifo1m concrete compressive strength 300 kg/cm2 were tested up to the shear failure after yielding of shear reinforcement. From the experimental result, it was found that the ultimate shear capacity was effected by the position of inflexure point as much as 13 % in comparison with the case of beam without inflexure point. Finally, the present experimental results are compared with variousĀ· shear design Codes and the proposed formula by Y.Aoyagi. which are extended to the case with shear reinforcement by this & Study. This proposed formula could predict more close shear capacity to the experimental results than the selected current design Codes i.e., ACI. JSCE.
