AbstractAIT is an international university located in Pathum Thani, Thailand. AIT generates about 23 tons of solid waste every month. At the same time, generation is approximately 6 tons per month. The plastic waste recycling rate is significantly less compared to plastic waste generation. Most of the recycling happens with the AIT collaborative projects with external stakeholders. It is essential to identify the gaps in the current waste management and improve it with smart waste management. The primary intention of this study is to design and build an economical smart waste bin integrated with the internet of thinking (IoT) that can provide the waste level so that the collection can be done on time without any delays. Other primary goals of this study are to identify current waste collection patterns, waste disposal behavior, Awareness of the AIT trash bag policy, and Plastic littering by using the CCTV plastic litter monitoring system. This system integrates smart waste bins across AIT to create an optimized waste collection map. With the incorporation of smart waste bins, the collection routine of waste collectors is reduced, hence increasing the efficiency of proper and adjustable waste collection.
