AbstractThe present study concerns with the research, development and implementation of an application software for design and manufacturing of rotational machine parts and products for Computer Integrated Manufacturing System. The methods and techniques applied in this study are based on the feature representation and manipulation using integration of data and knowledge. The products are defined at the design stage with both geometric and non geometric entities called feature. Which is the encapsulated information of parts or products. A knowledge based have developed for making feature primitives library. A small scale prototype system for making turned part database from predefined feature primitives library have developed to test the idea of feature concept for CAD/CAM integration. To test the idea of readily interpretation of part definition data file in terms of feature to the subsystems of CIM, a prototype knowledge base have developed for generation of NC code for tool path for turned part.
