Abstract | At first, the flow regimes for wave-current combined motion are developed from the previous experimental data in the simple and explicit expressions. Then, approximate formula of the wave-current friction coefficient for smooth turbulent flow is derived in an explicit form. After that, the explicit expressions of friction coefficient and phase difference spanning all flow regimes are also calculated in simple forms. Finally, simple expression of time variation of bottom shear stress is derived, based upon the theoretical result by Tanaka and Shuto (1981). Since all the formulas are given in explicit forms, it is convenient to reduce the CPU time. Errors of the approximate formula of friction coefficient for smooth turbulent flow are less than 3% in the range of practical importance. |
