AbstractRemote learning that utilizes suitable technologies has become very common today due to the ongoing pandemic. Among these technologies, social media that people are familiar with can be one of the optimal choices for those who have to start from the bottom with the minimum cost. Nevertheless, researchers and decision-makers have been neglecting to investigate such a concept intended for Myanmar where such a solution is desperately needed. Therefore, this study aims to provide social media related solutions to assist Myanmar’s academic remote learning based on the investigation of facts and conditions from the community of Myanmar universities, which is the significance of this study. There are four main stages conducted to fulfill the research's purpose: 1) analysis of the present state, 2) development of the guideline, 3) development of the prototype, and 4) preliminary assessment. The first stage analyzes the present situation of university-level classes from Myanmar and is followed by the second stage that outlines the initiation of social media-supported remote classrooms by utilizing features listed appropriately based on respective instructional activities. Afterward, the third stage illustrates how the example remote learning environment can be launched using existing social media, and the fourth stage finally shows how the solution works in practice by letting the relevant participants join the example courses; according to the analysis of the potential users’ responses, the proposed solution may benefit the launch of remote learning by Myanmar universities. Hence, it is hoped that this study can help those from not only Myanmar but also places with a similar situation in launching social media-supported remote learning environments by giving more insightful thoughts. Moreover, it is expected to see more similar studies in this field for the development of the sectors of Myanmar’s education and social media in the future.
