Abstract | In the present study, an attempt was made to select suitable probability plotting position formulas for two popular distributions, the generalized extreme value (GEV) and the Log-Logistic (LLG). For this purpose, extensive simulation runs were performed. The criterion for selecting suitable probability plotting position formula is minimizing the Cramer-Von Mises statistic W2 and the Anderson-Darling statistic A2 From the results of simulations, the most suitable probability plotting position formula for GEV distribution is the Cunnane formula. For LLG distribution, the Benard & Bos-Levenbach formula is recommended. Then, based on recommendations above, a user friendly computer aided package is developed to help the user in probability plotting. |
