AbstractConceptual graph (CG), a linguistically based semantic representation is a knowledge representation scheme used in expert systems and databases. This study attempts to fuzzify the CG model in order to represent imprecise knowledge. Fuzziness are introduced to both components: concepts and conceptual relations of the CG. Operations are defined on fuzzy concepts, on fuzzy conceptual relations and fuzzy conceptual graphs. The fuzzy ∅ operator maps the fuzzy CG into the fuzzy first-order logic. Some derived rules of inferences which are equivalent to the basic inference rules of fuzzy logic are given. A fuzzy closed and open world models are developed exhibiting not only the fuzziness in the CG but in the concepts and conceptual relations as well.
