AbstractThe Computer Graphics Aided Three-dimensional Application product (CATIA), developed by Dassault Systems Inc., is one of the leading CAD/CAM software in the world. In this thesis, an investigation of the tools offered by CATIA for surface and solid modelling was carried in depth. Power of the surface tools was analysed in hands on sessions with CATIA. Problems faced during the hands on sessions were dealt in details. A specification for an ideal interactive surface modelling system, with CATIA as basis, is proposed. This specification is seen from user as well as designer point of view.
