AbstractIn this study field sampling, laboratory analysis had been conducted to perform the objectives of this study, During the study period, there were no rainfall at Mae Moh Power Plant area. therefore the artificial simulated samplings should be taken as a representative of wastewater sample for running the experiment. Twenty-nine physical and chemical parameters were analyzed for leachate wastewater characteristics. Most of the parameters were within acceptable range of effluent standard except two parameters Cd & Pb. The results from the representative samples showed that the Cd (0.033 - 0.060 mg /l) and Pb (0.261 - 0.764 mg/l) concentration values were higher than the effluent standard (Cd < 0.030 mg/l) and (Pb < 0.20 mg/l). Therefore it should be treated before discharge to the water body. It was found feasible to remove the Cd & Pb from this waste by using chemical precipitation. The results of Cd & Pb removal by hydrated lime plus ferric chloride which were conducted by jar tests showed that at pH value of 8, mixing speed of 200 rpm, contact time 10 mins, and optimum chemical dosage (hydrated lime 0.75 g/l plus ferric chloride 1.50 g/l), 97.7% of Cd and 99.7% of Pb removal could be achieved.
