AbstractThe main objective of this research is to study the cost engineering practices of housing contractors in the five stages of a medium-sized construction company and to investigate their critical points of the cost engineer process, how these practices are used by the contractor to control costs and achieve profitability for his company. In addition, based on the main findings of this study, recommendations will be made for other construction companies in Thailand to avoid cost overruns and achieve profits in their business. During the course of the study, an extensive literature review was conducted before primary data was collected using open-ended interview questions for four expert interviews and a case study of medium-sized Thai housing construction companies. Then, all the collected data were thoroughly analyzed using the research framework as a guide to achieve the three main objectives of this study.
