Abstract | The construction industry is an extremely complex, and high-risk business. There are consisting of tasks, many activities, and work packages throughout the construction process. All construction companies in Myanmar are responsible for managing manpower, materials, and equipment. But building contractors are having difficulties in managing them, which is going to cause the projects to be unsuccessful. These issues involve insufficient coordination on construction sites, as well as a lack of formal understanding of how everyday coordination is actually done on a construction project. Site management is an important component in the construction process and one of the most vital management functions This study was conducted to study the site management activities in construction projects of medium and large-sized contractor companies in Myanmar and the result found that the 50 site management activities and top 5 ranking of important and top 5 ranking of time-consuming site management activities according to mean score values in order. By using independent t-test, the result found that the mean scores of site management activities from large-sized construction companies are higher than the mean scores of site management activities from medium-sized construction companies in Myanmar. For the next chapter, the interviews with project managers and project engineers from one medium and one large-sized construction company have been proceeded. The results showed that why top 5 ranking of site management activities are important and time-consuming and the suggestion from interviewees to improve site management practices in medium and large-sized construction companies in Myanmar. |
