AbstractThis study is conducted to investigate the concentration and physical characteristics of microplastics present in one of the surface water bodies of Thailand. For conducting this study, canals were selected. These canals receive wastewater emitted from Bang Chan Industrial Estate. The research study is conducted for a duration of three months. Five distinct points were selected for sampling. All the points of sampling were separated into four sites for each canal. Two points were selected upstream and two of them were located downstream. The fifth point was selected depending upon the direction of discharge. The highest amount of microplastic is found at site 5. Canal A was found to have more concentration of microplastics as compared to canal B. Moreover, the concentration of microplastics downstream was much higher in canal A as compared to the concentration of microplastics upstream.
