Abstract | There are three approaches to evaluating stock trends, i. e. technical analysis, fundamental analysis, and efficient market hypothesis. In Taiwan stock market, technical analysis is one of the major factors which has resulted in high transaction rate of listed shares. This paper explores the substantial result of the technical trading rule by comparing with buy-and-hold strategy. The results show that the rate of return and price movement by buy-and-hold strategy were larger than by technical trading rule; hence, the investors need not crave for benefit by frequent transactions. Technical analysis is basically often a matter of judgment and very subjective in interpretation. The papers also present, the fund amental concepts of investment, the development of Taiwan stock market, and the principle of fundamental analysis and efficient market hypothesis as alternative stock evaluation strategies. |
