AbstractTwenty three representative block samples of the Tak granite were collected from Klong Sak Site of Tak province Northern Thailand . De tailed studies of the engineering properties were conducted in the laboratory. Th e variation of the physical properties are not significant in the Tak granite. The mean value of the coefficient of linear thermal expansion is 7 . 05 x 10 /° C. The Tak granite is pink, coarse-grained, and minerallogically homogeneous. The uniaxial compressive strength of the Tak granite is 160. 53 MP a, and it is 22 . 84 times the point load diametral strength index . Th e tensile strength is 9.42 MP a and the brittleness {ac/T0 } of the Tak granite is 17 . 47. The diametral point load strength index is 6.48 MPa and it is 0.74 times the tensile strength . On the basis of the test results , the Tak granite can be classified as high strength with average modulus ratio {B M} . The point load strength index value of 6 . 48 MPa and Schmidt hammer hardness values of 60.1, can be used as index properties for t he Tak granite .
