AbstractManufacturing is now regarded as a key competitive weapon to achieve success in the world market. The existing climate is quality as well as cost driven an4 customer oriented. The prime challenge facing the factory manager is to adopt manufact4ring operation that improve companies competitive advantage and profitability. This can be achieved by improving, process, quality and by reducing cost, lead time, inventory levels among others. Manufacturing resource planning (MRPII) and Just in Time (JIT) systems are both widely believed as valuable tools in manufacturing management. MRPII offers, excellent planning capability. It tries to allocate for optimum achievement of the resources of materials, facilities and human beings. But little effort is given to production activity control. JIT which is a manufacturing philosophy, stress the factory operating system and continual improvement through deep realization and simplification of manufacturing process. There is compatibility in both systems sharing a common goal of improving the operation of the company. The focus of the study is on the integration of the two systems, looking into the aspects of the hybrid system particularly the issues and problems confronting the interfacing. The Unified system is applied to a company which presently using MRP software for their production assistance, to quantify the benefit achieved from the hybrid control. Research study is based on field data collection from a JIT implemented factory company "X" and another MRPII implemented factory company "Y". Also Laboratory work done on fourth shift, MRPII software.
