AbstractComputer-aided software engineering (CASE) is the set of tools that automates the development of software based on structure d methodologies. This study develops computer-aided software engineering package in Thai called TCASE for use in creating business application software. TCASE receives requirement specifications written in Thai from the user in both formal and informal forms. Formal specifications can be input through the system's templates while informal specifications can be input in sentences written in limited subset s of Thai language. These informal requirement specifications are parsed by a parser to extract facts. The parser is developed for the grammars of the informal requirement specification languages using the definite clause grammar (DCG) notation. Formal requirement specifications are filled b y t he user in the templates provided by TCASE and facts are also extracted. The extracted facts are represented using frame representation. The system then uses t h ese facts in the generation of various outputs including data f l ow diagrams in Thai. Algorithm for mapping the facts to data f low diagrams is also provided.
