Abstract | The second half of this century may be termed as the age of flexible manufacturing. This flexible manufacturing technique can offer varieties of parts to be produced within a short time span without any major change in the setup. That's why it is highly a strategic decision to select the proper FMS model which may ensure optimality in manufacturing. In this study, some commonly favorite FMS models have been designed through simulation. This simulation was performed using the simulation language - SIMAN. Also, the models were visualized using CINEMA, the graphics of SIMAN. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to evaluate the simulated models and to find out the optimal one for the manufacturing environment considered here. A software package, the "EXPERT CHOICE" was used for the analytic hierarchy process. |
