AbstractThis study investigates the feasibility of developing a program for computer-aided engineering drawings for tall buildings using AutoLISP programming language provided by AutoCAD. The program concentrates on the layout drawing and typical details of standard structural members such as columns, beams, shear walls, slabs, and footings. As the layout drawing shows the arrangement of the various structural members, it can serve as the master plan for construction. On the other hand, typical details of each structural member consist of typical drawing and schedules which supplement specific information to convey the designer's intention to the contractor. Examples are given in the form of the drawings produced by this program along with the corresponding input data. Conclusions are drawn about the practicality, efficiency, and economics of the program and future developments are outlined. A user manual for the program is also given.
