Abstract | This study is concerned with the optimal operation of the Kulekhani Reservoir in Nepal. I t is a single purpose reservoir with electricity generation as its ma in purpose . The deterministic dynamic programming model was run with various objective functions such as maximization of minimum monthly firm energy and annual firm energy, maximization of total energy generation, maximization of total energy generation with constant and variable monthly firm energy as constraint .Al so minimization of one and two sided squared deviation between different levels of required firm energy generation and total energy generation were done . Out o f the above different runs, RUN ABB is suggested to decision makers for the operation of the reservoir i .e. maximization of total energy generation with variable monthly firm energy as a constraint. A new rule curve is suggested for the above alternatives for t he reservoir operation after t he combined operation of Kulekhani Power Station no.1 (KLl) and Kulekhani Power Station no . 2 (KL2) instead of the old design rule curve which was valid for operation of Kulekhani no 1 before the construction of Kulekhani no 2. |
