AbstractThis study deals with the simulation of Daily Rainfall Data and Greenhouse Effect over t he Mekong delta of Viet Nam . In the simulation the first order Markov chain with two stages is evaluat ed. Ten sequences with the same record length are utilized in the simulation model. It is observed that the Model i s applicable for generating daily rainf all for t he Mekong delta of Vi et nam, even for a short historical data. In the assessment of the greenhouse effect, the Double C02 and Transient scenarios are used . The greenhouse effect is evaluated by studying the changes in the characteristics of monthly rainfall , frequencies of dry and wet spells and maximum daily rainfall . This study has adopted a new approach by incorporating the greenhouse effect together with rainfall stochasticity.
