Abstract | This study presents the comparative performance of some computer packages named BUNYIP, ASEAM, OASIS for building energy simulation. A hypothetical generic building has been taken as a case study for comparison of their performances. The building has floor area of 20, 160 m2 and comprises of 15 stories. Efforts have been made to keep the same data for three softwares. Whole simulation work is carried out by repeating one day weather data for a whole year. Simulated cooling load for base case of three softwares indicates that OASIS results are higher than BUNYIP and ASEAM. A comparison is also made for simulated cooling loads by all three softwares for zone 2 with ASHRAE method of load calculation. It indicates that OASIS results are comparable with ASHRAE Method than for other two softwares. Parametric study of various design key parameters has been done with three softwares also, in order to study their effect on energy performance of the building. It is seen that design parameter like, window to wall ratio, light intensity, absorptivity of walls and roofs and shading coefficient of glazing directly effect the cooling load of building, where as set temperature effects inversely. Results also indicated that parametric sensitivity of ASEAM is higher than BUNYIP and OASIS. |
