Abstract | This study analyzes the impacts of medium-term growth targets in final demand and output using a hybrid input-output model.Final demand, output and other macroeconomic forecasts were estimated by incorporating information about them with and without the Rational Use of Energy Project (RUE ) into the hybrid input- output model of the Philippines. The impacts are then simulated on the economy with respect to output, employment and energy implications on the the diffrent sectors. Results show that the total output, employment and energy consumption increase and the RUE project induces more productive jobs but less likely to reverse the trend in petroleum requirem~nts for the whole economy. This indicates a need for labor productivity improvement or capital intensive production to cope with the employment targets and continued policy and technology advancement in energy conservation . |
